While vendors are a key part of the festival experience, what truly makes the Sweet Corn Festival possible is the incredible network of volunteers and community organizations who give their time and energy to bring the event to life. Their efforts not only ensure a successful festival day but also create a ripple effect that benefits the entire Adel community.

What to Expect at the Adel Sweet Corn Festival

The Sweet Corn Festival 5K Walk/Run is a perfect example of this impact. In 2025 alone, more than 60 volunteers helped make the race a success. From course setup and registration to cheering on participants along the route, these volunteers played a critical role in creating a welcoming and organized experience for the runners and walkers of all ages. Their involvement helps set the tone for the entire day, kicking off the festival with energy, encouragement and community spirit.

The parade, another cornerstone of the festival, is generously organized by the Adel Kiwanis. Their leadership and coordination ensure a smooth, engaging experience for both participants and spectators. Each year, the parade draws crowds to the streets of Adel, celebrating local pride and honoring individuals who make a difference in the community. In 2026, the parade will once again feature the Business of the Year and Citizen of the Year as the Grand Marshals, highlighting the people and organizations that help Adel thrive.

Behind the scenes, the Adel Lions Club plays an essential role in preparing for the festival by assisting with the vendor placement ahead of the event. Their efforts help create an organized and accessible layout that allows vendors to shine and attendees to easily explore everything the festival has to offer. It is a task that requires time, coordination and dedication, and it is just one of the many ways volunteers contribute to the festival’s success.

Lend a Hand at This Year's Festival

In addition to these organized efforts, countless individual volunteers step up each year to lend a hand wherever it is needed. From serving sweet corn to assisting with setup and cleanup, their contributions are woven into every part of the festival. It is through this collective effort that the event continues to grow and improve year after year.
