Celebrate 515 Day Across Greater Des Moines
GREATER DES MOINES, IA (April 29, 2026) – The Greater Des Moines Partnership is inviting residents and visitors across Greater Des Moines to celebrate 515 Day on Friday, May 15 by shopping, dining, exploring and supporting businesses throughout the region.
515 Day is a region-wide initiative that highlights the small businesses, restaurants, artists and entrepreneurs that help shape the character of Greater Des Moines and contribute to its economic vitality. From neighborhood coffee shops and local retailers to service providers and makers, the day encourages the community to discover something new or support a favorite spot.
“515 Day is about showing up for the local businesses that power our communities,” said Alex Lynch, Director of Regional Community Integration at The Partnership. “Whether it’s trying a new place, revisiting a favorite or sharing your experience with others, every action makes a difference and helps strengthen Greater Des Moines.”
The DSM Local campaign, themed “Love Local,” celebrates all things local in Greater Des Moines and serves as a year-round effort to uplift Affiliate Chambers of Commerce and Regional Chamber Member businesses and organizations. In alignment with 515 Day, community members are encouraged to love where they live and work by supporting local year-round — from making a purchase to sharing their favorite spots. DSM Local serves as a resource to help consumers discover and support Regional Chamber Member businesses.
Participants are encouraged to plan their day, visit multiple establishments and share their experiences on social media using #515day.
