Lara Prescott Announced as a Headlining Author at 2020 DSM Book Festival
DOWNTOWN DES MOINES, IOWA (Nov. 6, 2019) – The 2020 DSM Book Festival returns to Capital Square in Downtown Des Moines (DSM) on Saturday, March 28, 2020. The event runs from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. The DSM Book Festival will feature internationally acclaimed authors, book club discussions led by featured commentators, hands-on activities, children’s programming, food, drink, live music and more. The 2019 DSM Book Festival was named the Best New Event by the International Festivals & Events Association.
The Festival has announced that Lara Prescott will be one of the headlining authors. Prescott is the author of “The Secrets We Kept,” a New York Times Bestseller inspired by the true story of the CIA plot to infiltrate the hearts and minds of Soviet Russia with the greatest love story of the 20th Century: “Doctor Zhivago.” Prescott received her Master of Fine Arts from the Michener Center for Writers at the University of Texas, Austin. She was previously an animal protection advocate and a political campaign operative. Her stories have appeared in The Southern Review, The Hudson Review, Crazyhorse, Day One and Tin House Flash Fridays. She won the 2016 Crazyhorse Fiction Prize for the first chapter of “The Secrets We Kept.”
Applications are also open for local authors and non-profit organizations to promote their work at The Festival. More programming, presentations and headlining authors will be announced in coming months.
