SBA Iowa Honors Kimberly Baeth as 2022 Small Business Person of the Year

SBA Award 2022

May 27, 2022

On Wednesday, June 1, Kimberly Baeth will be awarded the 2022 Small Business Association (SBA) Iowa Small Business Person of the Year award during a reception at Golden Openings, 2743 99th St. in Urbandale from 4 – 7 p.m. Baeth is President of Golden Openings, which specializes in grand openings, ribbon cuttings and special events, offering more than 10,000 products and services from balloons and red carpet to ceremonial keys, scissors and ribbon.

About Kimberly Baeth

The Small Business Person of the Year award nominees must have demonstrated success in business as well as contributions to their local communities. Baeth exemplifies this through offering paid internships to college women and school-to-work programs for Waukee High School and participating in career shadowing and mock interviews. In Greater Des Moines (DSM), she has also contributed her own time and resources to help the region develop and support other small businesses. Through efforts like the Small Business Holiday Gifts Extravaganza, an e-commerce marketplace for browsing local businesses and products to get holiday gift ideas, and 515 Day, a new event that encouraged residents and guests to support local businesses on May 15 of this year in celebration of DSM, Baeth supports the community by urging others to buy local.

Baeth has served on the boards for Girl Scouts, Urbandale Economic Development, YMCA, Campfire USA, Grimes Condo Association, Chi Omega Psi Beta and NAWBO. She also helped create the Central Iowa Blue Ribbon Campaign after the deaths of two local police officers, resulting in the entire region being covered in blue ribbons.
