Whitfield & Eddy Law announces Tyler L. Coe, Zach Hermsen, Alecia Meuleners, Kay Oskvig and Justin Sullivan will be the newest members of the firm effective Friday, January 1, 2021.

Tyler L. CoeTyler Coe Headshot

Tyler L. Coe joined the firm in 2017 as an associate attorney. He is active in the firm’s Family Law practice group and regularly represents clients in divorce, child custody, modifications and high conflict disputes including litigation. Tyler has been recognized by Great Plains Super Lawyers and The Best Lawyers in America. He is an author, speaker and provides media commentary on family law and wellness topics. He is a mental health advocate for Iowa’s youth as president of Please Pass the Love.

He is active in the firm’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Strategic Planning Committees and past member of the Business Development Committee. Tyler is a member of the Iowa State Bar Association Diversity Committee and was recognized in the Pro Bono Honor Roll.

Zachary HermsenZach Hermsen Headshot

Zachary J. Hermsen joined the firm in 2013 as a law clerk and became an associate attorney in 2015. He is an active member of the Litigation practice group and serves clients as a trial attorney representing individuals and businesses in civil litigation. He is a member of the ALFA International Transportation practice group and has presented on transportation topics to interstate carriers and insurers.

Zach served as co-chair of the firm’s Associate Professional Development Committee and as a member of the Professional Recruitment Committee. He has been recognized by the Iowa State Bar Association Pro Bono Honor Roll for serving the Polk County Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project.

Alecia MeulenersAlecia Meuleners Headshot

Alecia A. Meuleners joined the firm in 2017 after practicing for several years with the United States Department of Agriculture. She is a member of the firm’s Real Estate practice group, where she devotes herself to residential, commercial, municipal and agricultural legal issues. Alecia represents individuals and businesses in a broad range of matters including zoning, permitting, licensing, eminent domain, acquisitions, development and leasing.

Alecia co-authored the Mechanic’s Lien chapter of the Iowa State Bar Association Real Estate Law Manual in 2019. She served as co-chair of the firm’s Associate Professional Development Committee and is an active member of Commercial Real Estate Women and the Iowa Commercial Real Estate Association. Alecia is a 2020 graduate of the West Des Moines Leadership Academy. In her spare time, she coaches Girls on the Run teams at local elementary schools.

Kay OskvigKay Oskvig Headshot

Kay Oskvig joined the firm in 2018 as an associate attorney and is a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment practice group representing businesses in a wide range of workforce and COVID-19 issues. She regularly speaks on employment matters affecting Iowa businesses and industry associations, with over 25 presentations in 2020. Kay is a member of the ALFA International Labor & Employment Practice Group and serves on the firm’s Information Technology Committee.

Kay has served on nonprofit boards across the state of Iowa and is currently a board member of Junior League of Des Moines. She is a graduate of Leadership Fairfield and Leadership Siouxland, an active member of the Iowa State Bar Association, and is an elected Delegate in the American Bar Association’s governing body, the House of Delegates.

Justin L. Sullivan joined the firm in 2019 as an attorney at law and is a member of the firm’s Construction practice group representing individuals and businesses in a wide range of construction, roofing and real estate-related issues. Justin works with large-scale agribusiness and family farm owners and managers on business, transactional and management issues. He is a frequent speaker on construction topics to professional and industry associations.

He is executive secretary for the Iowa Roofing Contractors Association which represents over 70 companies involved in the Iowa residential and commercial roofing industry. Justin is a member of the firm’s Business Development Committee and Knights of Columbus.
