Leading in Times of Challenge with Gene Meyer

Greater Des Moines Partnership President Gene Meyer is also former mayor of West Des Moines. His professional career began with the Iowa Department of Public Safety as a special agent before retiring as Director of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation in 2006. He returned later for four years as Commissioner of the Iowa Department of Public Safety. He Spent 10 years serving as the West Des Moines mayor, as well as nine years on the West Des Moines Board of Education.

In his roles, Gene has encountered challenges in public service. He highlights educational debates, natural disasters, major criminal investigations the building of Jordan Creek Town Center and more. Gene led his teams through preparation, training and ensuring those people have the tools they need to be able to address challenges.
