Have a Ridiculously Good Time in Grinnell This Saturday!
Get out of the big city this weekend and check out Grinnell, Iowa this weekend! Our retail community is hosting their annual Ridiculous Day sales event on Saturday, July 20. Starting at 8 a.m., businesses will have sales, specials and more happening in stores and street vendors will be set up on Main Street in downtown Grinnell.
What to Expect at Ridiculous Day
This is a unique opportunity to support locally owned, small businesses AND save a few dollars. Brown’s Shoe Fit will have hundreds of shoes on sale for the whole family and Witte’s Home Decorating & Antiques has 20% off all gifts and antiques. You’ll find some great women’s clothing options at Anna Kayte’s Boutique and Suzi’s Boutique while Beckman Gallery & Gifts and Loralei’s Giftshoppe have savings on home décor. If you’ve got a four-legged friend, make sure to stop at Spoiled Dogs Co. for treats, toys and more!
Main Street will be closed until 3 p.m. with street vendors, a food truck, kid’s activities and live music! The Grasshoppers, a local bluegrass band, will start their set at 10 a.m. Community 1st Credit Union will have a kid’s train giving rides all day. Local artisans will offer unique artwork, handmade soaps, home décor and more.
Grab a bite to eat while you’re doing your shopping. For breakfast, Grin City Bakery opens at 7 a.m. with a great selection of donuts and sausage kolaches (our favorites are the jalapeno ones), and Frontier Cafe opens for the day at 7:30 a.m. Big Açaí food truck will be parked on Main Street serving refreshing smoothie bowls during the event, and Saint’s Rest Coffee House will be open for all your caffeine needs! Make a day of it and grab lunch from the famous Prairie Canary, currently featuring their farm-to-table summer menu, or head to Hometown Heroes for a burger or BBQ to refuel. Grinnell Craft Brewhouse opens at Noon so you can end your day with a cold beverage on their streatery!
Don’t forget to swing over to the Grinnell Farmers’ Market from 10 a.m. – Noon in Central Park. They’ll have locally grown produce, fresh baked goods and beautiful handcrafted items available for purchase. Grinnell Area Arts Council will be open during that time as well with their new “Connections” exhibit on display.
Wrap up your day by catching a show at Grinnell’s beautiful Strand Theatre. They’ll be showing the new Twisters movie, Fly Me to the Moon and more. Find showtimes online at fridleytheatres.com/movie-theater/grinnell-strand3.
