Want an interactive, fun way to meet young professionals (YPs) around Downtown Des Moines (DSM) and explore #DSMUSA? Look no further than the upcoming Downtown DSM Scavenger Hunt hosted by the Young Professionals Connection (YPC) Impact Downtown Committee.

Every year, YPC strives to create a fun, innovative and educational opportunity for the community to explore Downtown and experience the opportunities it provides. This year we are excited to work with Des Moines Area Regional Transit (DART), Quinton’s Des Moines and Up-Down to put on this event for YPs in Greater Des Moines (DSM).

Scavenger Hunt theme

The way we move around Downtown Des Moines is changing as a growing Downtown population creates demand for options to walk, bike, bus and drive safely around the city. Some of these initiatives include changes to Downtown parking, protected bike lanes and efforts to expand public transit. This year’s theme encompasses the past, present and future of transportation in Downtown DSM.

This is an exciting time to be in DSM. As the fastest growing major city in the Midwest, plans to support and expand innovative transportation options are underway. We are excited to partner with DART to showcase the importance of transportation for DSM. Clues during the Scavenger Hunt will provide insights on how transportation influenced DSM’s past development while enlightening us on how new ideas and views on mobility will drive DSM’s future growth.

How to take part

The Downtown DSM Scavenger Hunt will be held on Saturday, July 14 from 2 – 3:30 p.m. If you and your friends are looking for something to do after visiting the famous Downtown Farmers’ Market, just stop on by. Teams of four will solve clues throughout DSM using the free DART D-Line to visit local sponsors and businesses that support our community. The lucky winners will walk away with something extra, but everyone who participates gets to enjoy some food and drink after the event on us.

Young Professionals Connection (YPC) aims to attract and retain young professionals in Greater Des Moines (DSM) by connecting emerging leaders to each other and to the community through social, civic, charitable and professional development endeavors.
