Flower-Filled Experiences Await

Bochner Farms

August 14, 2024

Bochner Farms is a family-owned flower farm located near Indianola, Iowa just 30 minutes south of Des Moines. Our farm is tucked away in the quiet countryside, it's a hidden gem, with stunning beauty that surprises guests the moment they arrive at the farm. The magic of the flowers permeates the space, and it's just too good not to share. So, in 2023, we started opening the farm for various experiences throughout the growing season. We offer a unique getaway from the everyday hustle of life and provide the opportunity to connect with nature and flowers.

Our family lived in the suburbs surrounding Des Moines, Iowa for many years. Our house was the one that had lots of flowers in bloom. We loved cultivating beautiful flower gardens. At the time, we never dreamed of packing up everything, moving out to the country and growing thousands of flowers on a farm. But we did. Bochner Farms as it is today, was an unplanned accident. Right before our youngest son was to graduate high school, we bought 50 acres of raw land in the rural Greater Des Moines (DSM) countryside.

Bochner Farms

The original plan was to use the land on weekends to camp and fish in the pond. Go for hikes, gator rides and sit around the campfire. Our family enjoyed getting out of the city and relaxing in the peace and quiet of the outdoors. But we quickly discovered the magic of this very special piece of land. One year after buying the land, we decided to move out of the city and build a farmhouse. Late in 2018, we officially moved into our farmhouse and planted a few flowers. Then we planted a few more flowers. Today, we have planted thousands of flowers, and we continue to slowly transition this hidden piece of land into a little slice of heaven.

From the flower fields to the Cottage Garden, our goal is to create beauty and peace that surprises us daily.  We would be honored to host you at the flower farm for an event sometime this season or in the future.

At Bochner Farms, we believe flowers can be the catalyst for good as well. Yes, we love flowers, but we are also passionate about giving back to our community and the world around us. That's why we launched our GivingColor initiative. GivingColor truly is the heart of our "why" at Bochner Farms. On our flower farm, we like to say, "Flowers feed the soul. They can feed the world too." And that's exactly what we're trying to do. Through our collaboration with Meals from the Heartland, we donate a meal that feeds six people for every flower purchase from our farm. We're a little flower farm with a big heart.

Some of the popular experiences we offer on our flower farm include:

Farm-to-Table Dinners

Featuring an award-winning chef, our dinners sell out quickly, and for good reason.  Guests enjoy an exquisite five-course meal, under an open-air pavilion, next to the stunning Cottage Garden in bloom. Guests can roam the flower gardens, connect with friends over a meal and enjoy the sunset on a flower farm. Our 2024 dinner series is sold out already, but we plan to offer these incredible dinners again in 2025.
