From the Valentine's Murder Mystery Dinner and Show to a Galentine's Cupcake Decorating Workshop, there is plenty to do to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year! So grab your sweetheart for a romance-inspired event, gather up a group of friends to attend a galentine’s party or bundle up the kiddos to partake in family friendly activities around the region.

Attend Valentine’s Events in Greater Des Moines

40th FAAI Valentine’s Ball

Affiliate: Altoona Area Chamber of Commerce
The Filipino American Association of Iowa (FAAI) will celebrate Valentine’s Day at the 40th FAAI Valentine’s Ball on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 5 p.m. at Prairie Meadows. This formal event will include a parade of past Valentine’s kings and queens, dancing and more.

Valentine’s Murder Mystery Dinner & Show

Affiliate: Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce
The fifth annual Murder Mystery event takes place at Main Street Café & Bakery on Valentine’s Day in Ankeny. From 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14, enjoy dinner, dessert and fun with The Dinner Detective.

Valentine’s Day at Prairie Canary

Affiliate: Grinnell Area Chamber of Commerce
Attend the Valentine’s Day at Prairie Canary for a four-course dinner for two featuring starters, soup and salad, entrees and desserts for just $100.

Galentine’s Girls Night Out

Affiliate: Madison County Chamber of Commerce
Covered Bridges Winery is ready to welcome you and the gals for an evening featuring local vendors and wines. This is a free event from 7 – 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9.

Valentine’s Date Night with Max Wellman & Jazz Band Sings Sinatra

Affiliate: Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce
Vocalist Max Wellman and Jazz Band Sing Sinatra perform at Conrad Mansion in Conrad on Wednesday, Feb. 14 from 7 – 10 p.m. The event includes cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, dinner, dessert and parking at the Carriage House.

Galentine’s Cupcake Decorating Workshop

Affiliate: Norwalk Area Chamber of Commerce
At Middlebrook Mercantile in Cumming, indulge in an evening of cupcake decorating from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 5. The cost to attend this event is $65 and registration is required.

Cupid’s Wine Tasting

Affiliate: Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce
Bring your valentine to The Hills Bar and Grill for a Wine Tasting on Wednesday, Feb. 7 from 6 – 8 p.m. with Vitis Distribution LLC and live acoustic music from Tim Earp.

Make Valentine’s at The Library

Affiliate: Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce
All ages can drop into Waukee Public Library to make valentines on Saturday, Feb. 10 from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Valentine’s Day Dinner

Affiliate: West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce
Stop by Beerstyles Taproom and Gastropub in West Des Moines on Tuesday, Feb. 13 or Wednesday, Feb. 14 for a Valentine’s Day Dinner with Master Chef David Baruthio. Choose between a 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m. or 8 p.m. dinner time. The four-course menu includes an option for add-on cheese platter, too. Limited tickets are available so grab your ticket today.

  • Covered Bridges Winery: This Winterset family winery will hold both a Valentine’s Pop-Up Market and Dinner & Music on Saturday, Feb. 10. The Market will take place from Noon until 4 p.m. and the Dinner will take place from 6 – 9:30 p.m.
  • Summerset Winery: At Summerset Winery in Indianola, you can take part in a Valentine’s Paint N’ Sip: Wine Glass Painting Workshop on Saturday, Feb. 10 from 2 – 4 p.m.
