Iowa Wild Community Ice Rinks
Now – End of the Season, Weather Permitting | Various DSM Locations
Grab your mittens and bring your own skates. The Iowa Wild is bringing winter fun to a rink near you! With 11 community ice rinks popping up across DSM (including new this year: Carlisle!), you can skate under the sky from dawn till dusk, weather permitting. Whether you’re showing off your twirls or just trying not to fall, it’s a fun way to get moving and soak up some fresh air. No admission, no rentals — just you, the ice and maybe some friendly snowball flinging after. Find your nearest rink and lace up for a season of totally free outdoor fun. Be sure to check your local rink for designated times for open skating and hockey, as well as updates on availability due to weather and seasonal conditions.

Christmas Extravaganza & Festival of Trees
Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025 | Adair Community Building, Adair
If your holiday spirit needs a boost, the Christmas Extravaganza in Adair has you covered. From 1-4 p.m. on Dec. 6, the Adair Community Building will be bursting with seasonal cheer. We’re talking a festive vendor market, cookie decorating, face painting, coloring tables, hot chocolate and live music by Pete Temple. It’s the kind of afternoon that makes your cheeks hurt from smiling and your hot cocoa hand stay warm. Whether you’re shopping local or just in it for the cookies, it’s a family-friendly way to kick off December. Best of all, it won’t cost you a thing!

Merry & Bright Celebration
Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025 | Bondurant City Park, Bondurant
Bondurant really said, “Why choose one holiday event when you could have seven?” On Sunday, Dec. 7, you’ll find festive fun all over town — and much of it is free! Start your morning at the winter market, meet Santa at Reclaimed Rails, then head to City Park for live music, horse-drawn carriage rides, carolers, crafts and cocoa. Don’t miss the tree lighting at 4:30 p.m., followed by the lighted parade at 5 p.m. and a cozy PJ movie night at the library. Come for the lights, stay for the popcorn. It’s small-town holiday magic at its finest.
