Vylor Selects Greater Des Moines for New Global HQ

Vylor, Corteva’s future independent seed and genetics business, has selected Johnston and the Greater Des Moines region as its global headquarters location.

This decision was supported by a collaborative and creative “Plant the HQ Here” effort led by multiple organizations including the City of Johnston, Polk County, Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA), the Greater Des Moines Partnership, America’s Cultivation Corridor and many other regional partners. Together, we demonstrated what makes Greater Des Moines competitive: strong leadership, regional alignment and a shared commitment to long-term growth.

Bringing the HQ home to Johnston further strengthens Greater Des Moines as a leading hub for ag, bioscience and innovation-driven industries. This move helps retain the existing seed and genetics company footprint and workforce in the region while growing jobs and investment through the new headquarters location.

Strong Regional Collaboration

More than 725 individuals, including many Partnership Board Members and Investors, signed an online letter of support and/or provided letters of recommendation. Several corporate leaders met with the HQ decision-makers. In addition, 14 cities across the region adopted official resolutions and letters to encourage the HQ’s location in Greater Des Moines, including Altoona, Ankeny, Bondurant, Carlisle, Clive, Des Moines, Grimes, Indianola, Johnston, Norwalk, Pleasant Hill, Urbandale, Waukee and Windsor Heights for your support. This level of multi-city alignment around a single economic development opportunity is rare and is a tangible example of Greater Des Moines’ commitment to a collaborative, regional approach.

“Vylor’s selection of Johnston is a win for the entire Greater Des Moines region and our state,” said Tiffany Tauscheck, President & CEO of the Greater Des Moines Partnership. “Headquarters projects of this scale are highly competitive. Our low cost of doing business and the speed at which we can take action and get business deals done help set our region apart. We work together and we win together. We are incredibly proud to add Vylor as the newest global HQ located in Greater Des Moines.”

“Vylor’s headquarters project reflects the strength of Greater Des Moines’ collaborative economic development model,” said Stacie LoVan, Senior Vice President of Economic Development at the Greater Des Moines Partnership. “Local, regional and state partners moved quickly, demonstrating the speed, coordination and trust required to compete for projects of this scale. Communities across Greater Des Moines came together in support of a single opportunity, helping position the region as the right place for Vylor’s long-term investment and future growth.”
