Examining AI's impact on economic growth and the regional economy

The keynote will focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on the future of the regional economy. Drawing on McKinsey’s research on generative AI, the presentation will explore how adoption will influence economic growth and sector competitiveness across Greater Des Moines. It will highlight industries central to the region including insurance, financial services, health care, manufacturing and logistics and examine implications for productivity, workforce dynamics and long-term market shifts.

Dominic Williams, a Senior Expert in McKinsey & Company’s Institute for Economic Mobility, will deliver the keynote. His work focuses on how economic growth, workforce trends and place-based strategies shape long-term prosperity, helping organizations navigate economic change and opportunity.

"Greater Des Moines is at its best when leaders come together to prepare for what’s next,” said Tiffany Tauscheck, President & CEO of The Partnership. “As AI continues to shape industries and the economy, presentations and conversations with leaders like McKinsey help our region better understand the opportunities ahead and how we continue building long-term growth.”
