Interstate 435 Project Moving Toward Congressional Approval
This story was originally written by Zoe Seiler and published in the Business Record.
The Interstate 435 project is working its way through Congress in the federal surface transportation bill. The project would designate a portion of U.S. Highway 65 and Iowa Highway 5 as a federal interstate, allowing for higher speeds and greater truck weights.
The project would convert portions of highways 5 and 65 into interstate beginning at the western I-35/IA-5 interchange, extending south of Grand Avenue in West Des Moines and connecting with I-80 near the existing I-80/US 65 interchange in Altoona.
