Greater Des Moines Partnership Launches DSM Leadership Intensive
GREATER DES MOINES, IA (July 23, 2026) – The Greater Des Moines Partnership has launched DSM Leadership Intensive, a new talent development program designed to help new and emerging leaders across the region strengthen how they lead themselves, their teams and their organizations.
The six-session program, running every other week from Sept. 1 through Nov. 5, was developed with input from leaders across business, military and nonprofit sectors to address a growing need among employers for high-quality leadership development opportunities. The program will feature expert facilitators from the Iowa National Guard, Iowa State University, The Robert D. and Billie Ray Center at Drake University and the University of Iowa, bringing together academic, military, civic and applied leadership perspectives throughout the experience.
DSM Leadership Intensive is designed for professionals who are currently leading people, projects or strategic work, as well as emerging leaders preparing for greater responsibility. The program also serves as a resource for HR and talent leaders involved in succession planning and workforce strategy. Each session will combine expert-led instruction, peer learning and applied practice designed to help participants immediately connect leadership concepts to real workplace situations.
“Many people step into leadership roles because they’re good at what they do, but leading others often requires additional skills,” said Krista Van Hooser-Perin, Director of Workforce at The Partnership. “DSM Leadership Intensive is designed to help these emerging leaders build confidence and learn from others so they can put these skills to use right away.”
The program will focus on key areas including:
- Self-awareness and leadership style
- Communication and influence
- Managing priorities and navigating complexity
- Building trust and strengthening team culture
- Applying leadership practices in real workplace situations
Participants will leave the program with practical tools, stronger peer connections and a clearer understanding of how to lead with intention and impact.
Space is limited. Registrations will remain open through Aug. 15 or until the cohort reaches capacity. Program registration includes all sessions, program materials, lunch at each session and related resources.
