Get to Know Hubbell Realty Company's New President and CEO
Get to know newly appointed Hubbell Realty Company President & CEO Kyle Gamble as he continues Hubbell's legacy as one of Iowa's first real estate development companies. Below, Gamble explains his long-term vision for Hubbell and his goals for his first year at the helm of one of the most trusted Greater Des Moines (DSM) real estate companies.
Kyle Gamble, President & CEO
How has your experience in the company prepared you for the role of President & CEO?
I’ve had the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally inside Hubbell Realty Company. When I started, it was an organization with around 50 associates and today, it’s now closer to 400 associates. Over the past 32 years, I’ve worked across brokerage, operations, management and strategic development, and that has given me a full overview of how our businesses work together and what it takes to lead them well. That experience has taught me that strong companies are built on alignment. Strategy matters, but culture, execution and trust matter just as much. When you’ve seen the business from multiple angles, you learn how decisions in one area affect another, and that perspective is important in a vertically integrated company like Hubbell. It has also prepared me to lead with continuity. Our leadership transition was intentional and long planned, which reflects how we think as a company. We believe in stewardship, thoughtful succession planning and making decisions with the long game in mind.
What have been the biggest factors that have kept you at Hubbell Realty Company for 32 years?
The biggest factor is the people. Hubbell has always been a relationship-driven company, and over the years I’ve had the chance to work with talented teams, trusted partners, investors, jurisdictional leaders and communities that care deeply about doing things the right way.
Hubbell Trailhead, Opening in 2027
I’ve stayed because the work is meaningful. Real estate is about more than buildings. It’s about creating places where people live, work and connect. If you can enrich the quality of life for others through the work you do, that’s a pretty strong reason to stay committed to it.
And from the beginning, Hubbell represented a gold standard to me. As a Des Moines native coming out of college, I saw this as a company with high standards, a strong reputation and a real commitment to the community. That combination still matters to me today.
What are your goals for the first year in this role?
My first priority is to lead with consistency. Hubbell has nearly 170 years of real estate development history behind it, and my job is not to reinvent that foundation. It’s an evolution. It’s to build on that strong foundation, protect what has made this company strong and help position us well for the future.
Hubbell is marking 170 years on April 21, 2026, so this first year is very much about carrying that legacy forward with discipline.
Operationally, I want us to focus on thoughtful growth, strong execution in our key multifamily and industrial markets and excellent customer experience across every part of the company from our four (4) homebuilding divisions to property management. Some of the most important work is behind the scenes: strengthening teams, improving processes and making sure our divisions stay aligned as we grow into markets like Omaha and Lincoln, to name a few.
I also want to keep advancing our long-term strategy across Iowa, Nebraska and beyond in a way that fits who we are. Growth should never be transactional. It should be intentional, culturally aligned and rooted in long-term value creation.

What is your long-term vision for Hubbell Realty Company?
My long-term vision is for Hubbell to remain one of the most trusted and leading real estate companies in the region by continuing to grow thoughtfully, diversifying where it makes sense, and staying disciplined in how we operate.
We have a strong foundation because we’ve never taken a short-term view of the business. That mindset will continue. We want to be a company that embodies best-of-class experiences across development, construction, homebuilding and property management, while still operating in a way that reflects our values, supports our associates and serves our communities to the best of our abilities.
I also believe the future belongs to companies that can think holistically. The most successful real estate companies will be the ones that understand not just how to build properties, but how to create complete neighborhoods and long-term experiences. Our business model allows us to think from planning and construction all the way through ongoing management and customer experience.
What makes Greater Des Moines the right place to build a real estate company?
Greater Des Moines (DSM) has the kind of fundamentals that matter over the long term. It offers a strong quality of life, a competitive cost of doing business, comparatively low cost of living, population growth and a business community that knows how to work together. Those are real advantages for any company, but especially for a region like ours.
What makes our market especially attractive is that growth here still feels grounded. There is room to build (and welcome national companies eying our region), room to innovate and room to create communities that are intentional and sustainable. That matters to us because we are not just interested in isolated projects. We are interested in building places that add long-term value.
The region also continues to show strong homebuilding fundamentals. Demand for attainable and move-up housing remains steady, in urban and rural locations, and DSM’s combination of affordability, population growth and available land positions well for continued residential development.
For Hubbell, Central Iowa is home. We understand this market; we believe in its future and we see our work here as long-term stewardship. That’s been true for generations, and I believe it will continue to be true for generations to come.
