5 Events to Check Out Across DSM: May 8-14
May is off to a strong start across the Greater Des Moines (DSM) region, and this week brings a mix of events that make it easy to get out and enjoy it. From small-town charm to wide-open farm experiences, there’s so much happening if you’re in the mood to explore.
You can spend an afternoon sipping and strolling, take a step back in time with a unique local program or plan something a little more laid-back with a farmers’ market stop. There are also plenty of ways to celebrate Mother’s Day, whether you’re keeping it simple or making a full day of it.

Spring on the Farm
Now – June 2026 | Center Grove Orchard, Cambridge
If you’re ready to fully lean into spring, a visit to Center Grove Orchard checks all the boxes. With fresh air and plenty of space to roam, it’s an easy way to spend a day outside. Baby Animal Days are in full swing, which means goats, chicks, ducklings, bunnies and more making their seasonal debut.
