Partnership to Host Workshop for Home-Based Food Businesses

GREATER DES MOINES, IA (Aug. 12, 2021) – The Greater Des Moines Partnership is hosting a Home-Based Food Business Workshop on Sept. 14 and 21. This two-part series will focus on how small business owners can grow their home-based food business. Each session will take place from 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. in-person at the Greater Des Moines Partnership, 700 Locust St., Ste. 100 in Des Moines.

The Sept. 14 session is on All Things Business. Presentations will focus on state licensing, goal setting, time management, business insurance and financial considerations. The Sept. 21 session is on All Things Marketing. Presentations will focus on digital marketing, social media marketing, interactive food photography, local sourcing and a business-to-business panel.

“I often consult with people who are trying to turn their baking hobby into a small business, and understanding the ins and outs of how to start and run a business as well as the requirements to sell food prepared in your own home can be a challenge,” said Christina Moffatt, Director of Small Business Development at the Greater Des Moines Partnership. “These sessions will help talented bakers turn their passion into a business.”
