Partnership to Host Race Equity Workshops

February 2, 2022

GREATER DES MOINES, IA (Feb. 2, 2022) – The Greater Des Moines Partnership will host two-session workshops to help business leaders promote equity in their organizations. The workshop series, titled Awake to Woke to Work: Building a Race Equity Culture, will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 9 and Wednesday, Feb. 23 from 1 – 3 p.m. each day. The workshops are hosted in collaboration with Equity in the Center.

The virtual workshops will help attendees dig deep into the topic of race equity and provide practical tools and resources to help attendees in their journey of building a race equity culture. The first module is training on the Race Equity Cycle framework for organizational transformation. The second module is a deeper dive on operationalizing equity and will include breakout discussions designed to support the definition of specific priorities and action steps to build a Race Equity Culture. The idea behind the workshop series stemmed from a successful keynote session during the Inclusion Summit in 2021.

“Race equity is an important ongoing conversation for organizations of all types and sizes in Greater Des Moines,” said Dr. Marvin DeJear, Senior Vice President of Talent Development at The Partnership. “This workshop series will provide organizations with best practices and actionable steps to support their staff in understanding institutional racism and proactively addressing race equity.”

The corporate registration rate is $50 per person, $200 for a group of five or $400 for a group of six – 10 people.
