Partnership To Host Multicultural Reception, Education In Action Events In October

September 21, 2023

GREATER DES MOINES, IA (Sept. 21, 2023) – The Greater Des Moines Partnership will host two inclusion-related events in October.

The Partnership will partner with Central Iowa Society for Human Resource Management and the Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families to host a Multicultural Reception at the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Urban Camps, Building 7, in Des Moines on Tuesday, Oct. 24. The event will feature a roundtable discussion from 4 – 5 p.m., with the reception taking place from 5 – 6:30 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the Evelyn K. Davis Center located at the campus and celebrate its 10-year anniversary.

“When the Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families opened 10 years ago, we believed the integrated services model would have an impact on the community,” said Rob Denson, President of DMACC. “And for the past decade, the Center has proven to be a place where dreams become realities for thousands of Central Iowans of all ages and backgrounds. When you walk in, you feel and are welcome. Second chances are born at the Evelyn K. Davis Center and with the help of DMACC and other community and agency partners, individuals can achieve goals on their life journey. We look forward to another decade of working together to create a lasting impact for the individuals and families being served at the Evelyn K. Davis Center.”

The Partnership will host Education in Action: Advancing Access and Equity on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 1 – 2:30 p.m. at The Partnership’s office. Attendees will hear why it’s essential to look towards untapped talent, including persons with disabilities. Speakers will also discuss resources for employers looking to hire and retain persons with disabilities and ideas for diversifying the workplace. This event is in partnership with Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation (IVRS), Iowa Department for the Blind (IDB), and Easter Seals of Iowa.

Both events are free to attend. Learn more and register on The Partnership’s website.
