Partnership, Capital Crossroads and Robert D. and Billie Ray Center to Host Civility Events

GREATER DES MOINES, IA (March 29, 2021) – The Greater Des Moines Partnership, Capital Crossroads and The Robert D. and Billie Ray Center at Drake University will host a set of Civility Webinar events throughout the months of April and May. These events will discuss a variety of civil discourse topics created to assist business leaders in creating a culture of excellence in Greater Des Moines (DSM).

“Encouraging employees to engage in healthy conversations in a civil manner is crucial to success as we work through complex opportunities and challenges in our workplaces and in the community,” said Scott Raecker, Executive Director of The Robert D. and Billie Ray Center at Drake University. “Our webinar events will provide resources and strategies that will help to equip our leaders to create and cultivate a culture of civility that is built on courtesy and respect.”

The first session on Relationships, Communication and Teamwork will take place on Wednesday, April 7 at 7:30 a.m. and will focus on creating intentional relationship building strategies for working with team members with differing perspectives.

Presenters will provide resources on completing the essential steps for communication preparation including tips for respecting and connecting with other team members, decision-making techniques to help you find the best opportunities to communicate, a guide on setting ground rules for engagement in positive and productive interactions and insight into how to seek win-win outcomes.

Other planned webinars include a Panel Discussion on Civility and Social Media on Thursday, April 22 at 7:30 a.m. and a session on Creating a Civility Action Plan on Wednesday, May 5 at 7:30 a.m.
