Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewing Company Releases New Beer for Dew Tour Event at Lauridsen Skatepark

May 14, 2021

GREATER DES MOINES, IA (May 14, 2021) – Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewing Company is releasing a new beer just in time for the Dew Tour competition at Lauridsen Skatepark in Downtown Des Moines (DSM) on May 20 – 23. The “OLLIE” is now on tap, with $1 for every crowler and pint sold going to Skate DSM, the charitable arm of the Skatepark.

The OLLIE is a Berliner Weisse-style sour rested on blueberry, Meyer lemons and granola. It is brewed to be tart, crisp and refreshing after a session at the Skatepark. It is inspired by Mountain Dew, the title sponsor of the Dew Tour.

“We are proud to partner with Lauridsen Skatepark and Skate DSM to welcome this national event to Downtown Des Moines,” said Scott Carlson, Managing Partner of Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewing Company. “Whether or not you know how to do an ollie on a skateboard, we encourage you to stop in and quench your thirst with an OLLIE as you are out celebrating the first major event at the Skatepark.”

The Lauridsen Skatepark, which opened on May 7, is the largest open park in the nation. It is centrally located at the north end of the Principal Riverwalk next to the Des Moines River. The Dew Tour event will include World Skate sanctioned men’s and women’s skateboarding Street and Park competitions, serving as the only U.S.-based global Olympic skateboard qualifying events for 2021. Skateboarding will make its debut at the Olympic Games this summer in Tokyo, which are scheduled for July 23 – Aug. 8, 2021.

“We are excited to see the Lauridsen Skatepark come to life and welcome the country’s best skaters to our region,” said Tiffany Tauscheck, Chief Operations Officer at the Greater Des Moines Partnership. “This international event further establishes Downtown DSM as the place to be as events begin to safely return, and it is nice to see the natural synergies between local businesses and major events that add to the vibrancy of Downtown.”

“Thank you to Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewing Company for donating sales of the OLLIE to Skate DSM,” said Norm Sterzenbach, President of Skate DSM. “This generosity will help fund programs to make skating more accessible for people of all ages, including our youth in Greater Des Moines.”

Skate DSM’s mission is to harness the positive aspects of skateboarding to create a positive impact in the community through a collaborative approach. Skate DSM works for the skating community to connect with public and private organizations to facilitate programs and events, educate, and build positive relationships.
