Britney Samuelson Named Director of Capital Crossroads

Britney SamuelsonGREATER DES MOINES, IA (May 27, 2021) – Britney Samuelson has been selected as the new Capital Crossroads Director. In this role, Samuelson will represent the Capital Crossroads Chairs and will work closely with community and business leaders and volunteers to guide implementation of the regional vision plan. The position is supported by consulting firm SPPG.

“I am excited to begin this role to help our community implement the Capital Crossroads regional vision plan and also look toward the next community vision plan as we emerge from the pandemic,” said Samuelson. “I am passionate about working together with people of all different backgrounds and beliefs to make Central Iowa a place where everyone can thrive and be successful.”

Samuelson is a Senior Program Manager at SPPG and has been with SPPG since 2018. In this role, Samuelson leads teams focused on stakeholder engagement, public affairs, advocacy and strategic planning. Prior to joining SPPG, Samuelson worked as a freelance policy researcher for United Way of Central Iowa, served as the executive assistant to Senator Tom Harkin (retired) at The Harkin Institute at Drake University, and held an internship at the Greater Des Moines Partnership to support the public policy team and the Capital Crossroads vision plan. Samuelson earned a bachelor’s degree in social justice, Spanish and applied philosophy with a minor in Latin American Studies from Simpson College in May 2017.

“Britney has a reputation for leading with civility and working with stakeholders to find common ground solutions,” said Kristi Knous, Co-Chair of Capital Crossroads and president of the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines. “Her experience and attitude make her the right person to work with leaders across Capitals to help advance the vision plan and identify opportunities to define the vision for the future.”

Samuelson will begin her role with Capital Crossroads on Wednesday, June 2.
