Emily Schirmer Joins Belin McCormick, P.C.

Emily Schirmer is an Associate in the firm's litigation and labor and employment groups. Her practice emphasizes business counseling and representing employers in labor and employment matters, as well as immigration.

Emily earned her B.A. from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She double majored in government and journalism. She earned her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was a member of the editorial Board of the Journal of Law and Politics.

While at UVA Law, Emily was among a group of select students chosen for the Immigration Clinic, a semester-long Law School program offering aspiring lawyers real life experience dealing with complex cases. She earned recognition for her work in the UVA Law Pro Bono Challenge, completing a total of 75 hours of pro bono service during law school. Much of her Pro Bono Challenge work was completed at Iowa Legal Aid.

Between undergraduate and law school, Emily interned at the Bockorny Group, Inc., a leading bipartisan government affairs consulting firm located in Washington, D.C. She later worked as a staff assistant to U.S. Senator Tim Johnson of South Dakota.
