Board DART Buses With a Bike in May and Ride Free

May 2, 2018

May is National Bike Month, and DART is celebrating by offering free rides to anyone who boards with a bike May 1-31, 2018. The free rides are valid on Local, Express, Flex and On Call services. After loading a bike, riders simply walk onto the bus and find a seat without needing to pay a fare.

“Warmer weather has finally arrived, which makes this a great time to try biking and riding DART,” said DART Chief External Affairs Officer Amanda Wanke. “We invite residents to join in celebrating National Bike Month by learning just how easy it is to extend or speed up your bike trip with DART.”

Loading or unloading a bike on DART’s bike racks takes less than 20 seconds. Riders are encouraged to signal to the bus operator before boarding with a bike and remind the operator when exiting the bus that they need to unload their bike from the rack.

People wanting to plan a Bike & Ride trip can do so using the MyDART app, available on iOS and Android devices. The app includes trip planning tools as well as the ability to purchase your bus pass.
