2018 Economic Impact Award Winners Announced
GREATER DES MOINES, IA (Oct. 16, 2018) — The Greater Des Moines Partnership and the Business Record honored area companies with the Economic Impact Awards last night. The Economic Impact Awards recognize companies that have had a significant influence on the local economy in terms of job creation, capital investment and facility expansion.
The 2018 Economic Impact Award winners are:
Atlantic Coca-Cola Bottling Company
which moved back to its roots on the south side in 2017 and purchased a 407,938-square-foot industrial building at 3600 Army Post Road in Des Moines to accommodate its future growth.
Facebook
which announced its latest Altoona project in May of 2017 — 1 million-square-feet of increased data center space.
Global Atlantic Financial Group
which is in the process of expanding its presence in DSM, where its life insurance business is based. The $13 million project enlarges and remodels its existing office in the Davis Brown Tower to 55,000 square feet.
Holmes Murphy
which moved into a 93,740-square-foot office building in the Kettlestone Development in Waukee in early 2018.
Hy-Vee, Inc.
which constructed a new 202,000-square-foot building in Ankeny to manufacture some of its products. Hy-Vee recently invested in a 108,000-square-foot expansion at its Perishable Distributors of Iowa campus in Ankeny.
IMT Insurance
which is building a new 85,000-square-foot home office in West Des Moines, which they plan to occupy by the end of the year. IMT has invested more than $36 million in the facility and created 33 new jobs.
Kum & Go
which plans to open its new headquarters, the Krause Gateway Center, at 1459 Grand Avenue in Downtown DSM. The building was designed by world-renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano and his firm, Renzo Piano Building Workshop.
Siegwerk USA
which recently completed a 48,500-square-foot warehouse building to support its flexible packaging business unit. The warehouse was constructed on Siegwerk’s southside Des Moines campus adjacent to its existing manufacturing plant and corporate office.
Windsor Windows & Doors
which purchased 27 acres of the 60-acre certified site on Highway 28 in Norwalk and constructed a 160,000-square-foot manufacturing building. The company has invested $11 million in the facility and will have 130 employees in Norwalk.
