What to Know About Hinterland 2022

At Avenue of the Saints Amphitheater in Saint Charles, Iowa, one of Iowa’s premier music festivals gets underway today. Music lovers, families and attendees of all backgrounds are welcomed to an inclusive atmosphere in the countryside where they can sway along to the songs at Hinterland Music Festival in 2022. Expanding to four days, festivalgoers can enjoy the music from Aug. 4 – 7.

• Glass Animals on Friday, Aug. 5
• Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats on Saturday, Aug. 6
• Phoebe Bridgers on Sunday, Aug. 7

Other acts include Sierra Ferrell, The Texas Gentleman, Riddy Arman, Nick Shoulders, Joe Pera, Turnstile, The Aces, Briston Maroney, Goth Babe, Petey, Yoke Lore, Summer Dean, Lake Street Dive, Trampled by Turtles, Jenny Lewis, Durand Jones & the Indications, Mat Kearney, TK & the Holy Know-Nothings, Jesse Daniel, Miko Marks, Vinyl Ranch, Rachel Brooke, Kurt Vile & the Violators, Lucy Dacus, Muna, Liz Cooper, Tré Burt, The Kernal, Hayden Pedigo, Tim Heidecker and Emma Butterworth.

Passes

Passes come in four-day general admission passes ($250) and single-day general admission passes ($99), which are sold per person to all ages and do not include camping or parking. Four-day VIP passes can be purchased for $550 and include tent camping, access to VIP areas, drink and food vouchers and the opportunity to add on a VIP Parking Lot pass for $50. Finally, a four-day SAINTS pass includes tent camping, parking, access to SAINTS deck and VIP areas, unlimited drinks, catered meals and more. VIP and SAINTS passes are 21+ only.

Festival Info

Once onsite for the event, use the 2022 Hinterland Music Festival map to find what you need, from check-in areas to food and drink to restrooms and showers. On your way to the festival, you can hit up the Hinterland 2022 playlists as well on Spotify, YouTube and Apple Music. And once you get there check out all of the food and drink vendors that will be onsite, including which have vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, corn-free and vegetarian options.

Did you know there’s a schedule of events just for kids? If you’re bringing the family to Hinterland — where children 12 and under are free with a paying adult — you’ll want to attend these fun events taking place:

• Bucket hat decorating on Thursday, Aug. 4 from 4:30 – 7 p.m.
• Tie-dye bandanas on Friday, Aug. 5 from 1 – 4 p.m.
• Six and under treasure hunt on Saturday, Aug. 6 at 11 a.m. followed by a collaborative mural from 1 – 4 p.m. and the chance to meet a musician in the afternoon.
• Seven and up treasure hunt on Sunday, Aug. 7 at 11 a.m., followed by decorating sunglasses from 1 – 4 p.m. and the chance to meet a musician in the afternoon.
