Watch the IRONMAN in DSM This Weekend; Pre-Register for 2023

Athletes in Greater Des Moines (DSM) will swim, bike and run their way through the 2022 Certified Piedmontese Beef IRONMAN® North American Championship Des Moines on Sunday, June 12, beginning at 5 a.m. These inspirational triathletes of all ages and physical ability will not only compete in Iowa’s capital and surrounding cities but will have an opportunity to help showcase the region as a sports destination.

Where to Watch the IRONMAN Race

Catch Des Moines recently put together a blog post on places to view the race, based on whether you’re wanting to view the swim course, bike course or running course. Check out spots like Gray’s Lake Bridge (swim), The Chicken Orilla (bike) and the Courthouse at Court Avenue and the Pappajohn Sculpture Park in Downtown DSM (run). IRONMAN into the Future

Last week, we announced a three-year extension for DSM to serve as the host venue for IRONMAN® branded events. Beginning with the IRONMAN 70.3 on Sunday, June 11, 2023, IRONMAN® events will take place annually through 2025. The 2023 event will see athletes swim at Gray’s Lake in Downtown DSM before biking across the region in rural areas of West Des Moines and Dallas and Madison Counties before heading back downtown to finish the race.

Pre-sale registration for the 2023 event is now open. Sign up to secure your spot! Your registration includes a finisher medal and hat, event shirt, bag, on-course nutrition, post-race food and more. Relay entries are $425, but the pre-sale price is just $325.
