DSM USA Policy HQ - Year One in Review
The Greater Des Moines Partnership’s public policy team, made up of Andrea Woodard, Senior VP of Government Relations and Public Policy, Ryan Moon, Public Policy Manager and a public policy intern, discussed previous episode topics and asked for input on upcoming 2022 DSM USA Policy Headquarters podcast discussions. If you have feedback on past topics or an idea for a future topic and/or speakers, you can email Andrea Woodard at awoodard@DSMpartnership.com.
Moon said that he relistens to experts on the DSM USA Policy Headquarters podcast because topics come around again and it’s important to be knowledgeable about them on an ongoing basis. His favorite episode was the American Rescue Plan Act discussion with Robert Palmer and Jamie Cashman because the funds are from a generational legislation that will have an impact and be discussed for years to come. Woodard reflected on her own favorite episode that focused on redistricting in Iowa and featured Mike Gronstal, Linda Upmeyer and Ed Cook.

DSM USA Policy HQ in 2022
In 2022, Moon said they hope to focus on topics that educate Investors and Members even more, including community placemaking projects. Moon also suggested inviting Sen. Chuck Grassley and former Sen. Tom Harkin onto the podcast to talk about bipartisanship and civility. Woodard agreed on civility as a possible kickoff topic, as well as the possibility of discussing infrastructure more in-depth and bringing in guests with diverse perspectives who won’t be afraid to have hard conversations.
