Save the Date for the 2019 World Food & Music Festival
DOWNTOWN DES MOINES, IOWA (July 30, 2019) – The 15th Annual World Food & Music Festival will be held at Western Gateway Park in Downtown Des Moines (DSM) on Friday, Sept. 20 – Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019. More than 50 food vendors representing more than 25 countries and culinary regions will be featured at Greater Des Moines’ (DSM’s) premier food and music festival. The Festival will be open from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Vertical Horizon will headline The Festival on Saturday, Sept. 20. Vertical Horizon was founded in the early 1990s and in 1999 they released their breakout album, Everything You Want, which went on to sell more than two million copies. The second single off the CD, the title track “Everything You Want,” captured the #1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 and Adult Top 40 charts, and became Billboard’s Most Played Single of 2000. The band garnered further radio attention with “You’re a God” (#4 on Billboard’s Adult Chart) and “Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning).” Their latest album, The Lost Mile, was released in 2018. The award-winning Festival celebrates cuisine and entertainment from around the world including Bosnia, Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, Ecuador, Egypt, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Kenya, Laos, Liberia, Mexico, Morocco, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Polynesia, Somalia, South Korea, Thailand, Ukraine, Venezuela and more. New vendors in 2019 include Africana (Somalia), Lumpia & Co (Philippines), Momo-Chen (Asia), Saap Bowl (Japan) and more.
