Celebrating Women at the 2022 Girls' Entrepreneurship Summit Day of Innovation + Award Ceremony

PI515 Girls' Entrepreneurship Summit

April 22, 2022

On Thursday, April 28, enjoy an evening dedicated to the hard work of women enrolled in the 2022 Girls’ Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) at Mainframe Studios in Downtown Des Moines (DSM). From 5 – 8 p.m. Summit participants will speak about their experiences in the program, which culminated in a final pitch competition and cash prizes for the winners. An awards ceremony, keynote address, fundraiser and an opportunity to network with other women entrepreneurs are just a few of the other reasons to mark this celebration of entrepreneurship and innovation in Iowa to your calendar. Special event guests will include Gov. Reynolds and Iowa Economic Director Debi Durham.

About the Summit

The GES is a six-week event that guides female entrepreneurs to explore their ideas and create business plans with the help of mentors, guest speakers and content from the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Centers. The GES Day of Innovation and Award Ceremony is the culmination of these weeks working towards their goals. The students in the program met for 2.5 hours every Saturday from Saturday, March 26 through Thursday, April 28.

“I believe that for any individual's success, it all starts with their level of exposure and support. Pi515 has provided an amazing platform for these brilliant young women to gain the proper environment to nurture their entrepreneurial skills amongst some of the most renowned entrepreneurs and motivational speakers.” - Anika Yadav, Waukee High School student (GES Summit leader)

“No one knows what makes the world better for women than a woman, and girls in entrepreneurship is the way for girls to make those changes. The Girls Entrepreneurship Summit was a great experience for me to learn and develop the skills to become an entrepreneur who will innovate to empower women.” - Jade Nettour, University of California Irvine (former GES participant and graduate)
