  1. Des Moines Restaurant Week
    Friday, Aug. 19 – Sunday, Aug. 28 | Various Locations
    The week continues! Don’t miss your opportunity to try limited-time menu items from top-notch restaurants the region, including Downtown DSM. Dinners range $40 to $80 per person, with lunches between $15 and $25. Many Downtown restaurants are participating such as Mash + MARROW, HoQ, Proof, Proudfoot & Bird, The Purveyor and Splash Seafood Bar & Grill (to mention a few!).

  2. Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird
    Tuesday, Aug. 23 – Sunday, Aug. 28 | Des Moines Civic Center
    See Harper Lee’s characters come to life on stage in the story based on the famous novel told from the perspective of Scout Finch. “To Kill a Mockingbird” is part of the Willis Broadway Series, with tickets starting at $40.

  3. Exile Music Fest
    Saturday, Aug. 27 | Exile Brewing Co.
    Join in the celebration of Exile’s 10th anniversary! This event features music by Leftover Salmon, Kyle Hollingsworth Band, Illegal Smile, Birdie Pie, Halfloves and River City Opry Band with food vendors including Exile, Gusto Pizza Co. and the Outside Scoop plus activities, too! Tickets are $35 and kids 14 and under receive free admission.

  4. Justin Roberts and Inez Barlatier
    Friday, Aug. 26 – Saturday, Aug. 27 | Lauridsen Amphitheater at Water Works Park
    Justin Roberts, a Des Moines-native and musician, will be performing alongside Miami native Inez Barlatier, who draws from Haitian art and culture in her energetic drumming, singing, costumes and dances. This outdoor concert produced by Des Moines Performing Arts is free and open to the public.

    Tuesday, Aug. 30 | Hoyt Sherman Place
    This live storytelling night is curated by Des Moines Register journalists, with this week’s theme: bad advice. Experience first-person narratives from local community members — from neighbors to notables — in Downtown DSM.
