Passport to Prosperity Week

Saturday, Oct. 1 – Friday, Oct. 7 | Various Locations
The 20th anniversary of Passport to Prosperity brings a weeklong celebration recognizing immigrants and refugees for their contributions to the community. The weeklong festivities include a scavenger hunt, social media engagements, webinar, international trivia and the culmination of the week: the 20th anniversary gala at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden in Downtown DSM.

Sister Act Junior

Friday, Oct. 7 – Sunday, Oct. 16 | Stoner Theater
Rejoice! The Des Moines Young Artist Theater will bring the 1992 hit film and Tony-nominated Broadway musical to life! This feel-good comedy combines gospel music and dancing to reveal a moving story about the power of friendship.

Featuring running, yoga, community and gratitude — participate in this festival for a mind, body and spirit experience including live music, local leaders and performers. Proceeds from this Downtown DSM event will benefit Above + Beyond Cancer.

Hari Kondabolu

Sunday, Oct. 9 | TeeHee’s Comedy Club
Hailing from Brooklyn, comedian, writer and podcaster Hari Kondabolu has been named on many best lists: Time, Paste Magazine, Cosmopolitan, E! Online and Mashable. His standup tour, “Warn Your Relatives,” was featured on Netflix in 2018. The show is open to all ages.
