World Food & Music Festival Returns September 18 - 20
The 11th Annual World Food & Music Festival will return to Downtown Des Moines (DSM) Sept. 18 - 20, 2015 on the Walnut Street Bridge. Hours are: Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. The World Food & Music Festival is the region's premier celebration of culinary culture featuring diverse food vendors, cooking demonstrations, live music, entertainment, and international beer and wine. Admission is free. Full schedules of performances, cooking demonstrations and programming are attached following this release.
53 Food Vendors representing 22 countries, International Beer, Wine and Cocktails
The World Food & Music Festival will feature 53 international food vendors including 14 new this year showcasing food from 22 countries including Bosnia, Cambodia, China, France, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Greece, India, Israel, Italy, Korea, Laos, Mexico, Morocco, the Netherlands, Thailand, the Philippines, Turkey, Ukraine, Vietnam and of course America. Festival attendees are invited to taste samples for $1 at every food vendor or experience the full-plate options for $5 or less. The Festival will feature 34 beers including craft and imported varieties along with international wine and a variety of cocktails to choose from. Music, Entertainment and Programming
The Festival will feature headliners The Black Cadillacs and The 4onthefloor; in addition to music from local and regional acts, cultural dancers and demonstrations on the Farm Bureau Financial Services Stage during the three-day event. The Wells Fargo Cultural Discovery Experience will return for the third year, giving visitors the opportunity to learn about other cultures, countries and traditions through hands-on demonstrations and interactive children’s activities. Beaverdale Confections will also return with Chocolate Adventure, an opportunity for kids to learn about and taste different kinds of chocolate as they make their own world themed chocolate lollipop.
Live Cooking Demonstrations from Local Chefs
Live cooking demonstrations will take place at the Meredith Culinary Discovery Pavilion throughout the three-day festival. Stop by the pavilion to learn new techniques and sample inspiring creations. The Festival is proud to welcome 24 local chefs representing the rich and diverse culinary scope serving Central Iowa.
New for 2015!
The World Food & Music Festival is pleased to announce it will host a fireworks show for the first time, presented by MidAmerican Energy Company, Saturday, Sept. 19 at 10 p.m.
Volunteer Opportunities Available
