Workhound Co-Founders Max Farrell and Andrew Kirpalani to Speak at Square One DSM Startup Stories

March 17, 2017

DES MOINES, IA — Max Farrell and Andrew Kirpalani, Co-Founders of WorkHound, will be the guest speakers at the April Square One DSM Startup Stories event. Startup Stories is a monthly networking event geared toward entrepreneurs, investors and those interested in entrepreneurship that features an interview-style presentation with Square One DSM Executive Director Mike Colwell. The April event is scheduled for Wednesday, April 19 at the Greater Des Moines Partnership, 700 Locust St.

WorkHound is a worker engagement platform built to help trucking companies engage and retain their drivers. Using WorkHound’s mobile platform, drivers and companies can create stronger feedback loops. As a third party tool, WorkHound is able to learn what the biggest issues and opportunities are within fleets to help companies take action to improve the driver experience. WorkHound was formed when the founders met at the Gravitate co-working space in Downtown Des Moines.

Farrell and Kirpalani will talk about how their prior experiences working for startup companies have helped them in building WorkHound. Farrell will talk about lessons learned while working at one of Greater Des Moines’s fastest-growing startup companies, Dwolla. Kirpalani will discuss his experience going from a software developer to building products during his time with Silicon Valley software companies such as Bunchball, and how he worked to understand the trucking industry to build his company. Both will discuss how to find a good co-founder, and how two people can successfully work together to build a business and team. Colwell will begin the presentation by interviewing Farrell and Kirpalani and will then open up questions from the audience.

The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration includes a $15 admission fee for lunch; the event is free for attendees who choose not to sign up for a lunch.
