The Partnership Announces Cultural Exploration Tour to Dubai in 2014

November 13, 2013

The Greater Des Moines Partnership will lead a cultural exploration tour to Dubai in June 2014. Dubai is now the most sophisticated city on the Persian Gulf and has earned its growing reputation as one of the world’s most attractive and rapidly developing metropolitan areas. The cultural exploration tour will include visits to the Spice Souk and Gold Souk, as well as the cities of Bastakiya and Abu Dhabi. Optional tours of the United Arab Emirates’ East Coast, including Khor Fakken and Fort of Fujairah; and to Sharjah, considered the “Pearl of the Gulf,” are also available.

The tour will visit both ancient and modern sites of interest, including the 180-year-old Al Fahidi Fort and the towering skyscrapers with glass facades in Abu Dhabi. In addition to the many cultural and historic sites on the tour, participants will gain a better understanding of how the Dubai business system operates.

"It was truly an experience of a life time,” said Partnership Senior V.P of Workforce Development and Education, Mary Bontrager, who took an exploratory tour in May. “From seeing the largest ancient mosque to the tallest building in the world, this tour allows you to experience history in the making. Dubai is a fascinating example of visionary planning success. The city is a hotbed for growing international companies, including Iowa companies, and today it boasts the second busiest airport in the world.”

Additional information on the cultural tour, including detailed information on the itinerary, is available online at: DSMpartnership.com/dubai.

The cost of the trip is $3,099 for early bird registration and $3,199 after December 6, 2013. It includes air and land expenses for eight days travel, including hotels, day trips, most meals, and airfare from Des Moines International Airport.
