Square One DSM Client Lands Spot In 500 Startups Batch 16

January 28, 2016

Square One DSM client Elizabeth Caven has landed a spot in the prestigious 500 Startups Batch 16 program for her business UpCraft Club. “Batch 16” represents the 16th class for the 500 Startups venture capital seed fund and startup accelerator, which is widely regarded and ranked as one of the top five accelerator programs worldwide. The program began earlier this month in San Francisco, Calif.

Caven’s business, UpCraft Club, is the first modern sewing association and curated pattern shop for people who use digital sewing patterns. Caven was recently named a national finalist in the U.S. Small Business Administration’s InnovateHER: Innovating for Women Business Challenge.

“I am thrilled to see Elizabeth and UpCraftClub join 500 startups. This high level of recognition on a national scale is well deserved, and I know that this is just the tip of the iceberg for the success of Elizabeth and for her business,” said Mike Colwell, Executive Director of Square One DSM.

“I am honored to join 500 Startups’ Batch 16 class. Joining the program affirms many months of work, and I am grateful to Mike Colwell and to Square One DSM for their guidance and support,” said Elizabeth Caven.

The accelerator investment for Batch 16 is $100,000 net of fees (or $125,000 gross) for a 5 percent company stake. Participants in the 500 Startups Accelerator program have direct access to experienced mentors, including those in the 500 Startups network, which consists of 1,000 company founders and more than 200 mentors from diverse backgrounds and from all around the United States and markets from around the world.
