Seize The City Intern Series Returns To Des Moines On June 1

The Greater Des Moines Partnership is pleased to announce the return of its summer intern series with a new name. Seize the City, formerly known as Do More in the City, is a series of networking, community engagement and professional development opportunities for summer interns. The Partnership will launch the program on Wednesday, June 1 with a kickoff event at Brenton Skating Plaza from 5 – 7 p.m.

All interns and college students working in the Greater Des Moines area are invited to attend. Following the first event, a 5-part series will feature components of leadership mastery. Each program will incorporate panels of community leaders as well as social and community awareness opportunities. Each program will also create opportunities for interns to meet and network with fellow interns. All of the events are free to attend.   • June 1: Kickoff, Hosted by Palmer Group
  • June 15: Networking and Business Etiquette, Hosted by Bankers Trust
  • June 29: Innovation, Hosted by Principal Financial Group
  • July 13: Community Engagement, Hosted by Wells Fargo
  • July 27: What Makes a Leader, Hosted by Nationwide
  • August 3: Arts and Culture/Graduation

All Seize the City events will be hosted at local businesses or cultural/recreational centers in Greater Des Moines. Interns that participate in three or more of the events will receive a “Mastery of Community Leadership” certificate upon completion. In addition, all interns will have an opportunity to enjoy a small group breakfast or lunch with executives from the community and will have the opportunity to participate in a community service project as a group.
