Raising Capital Seminar To Help Startups

August 15, 2016

Startup company founders in Central Iowa will have the opportunity to learn from other entrepreneurs and startup investors on how to successfully raise capital for their startups at the Raising Capital Seminar on Thursday, Sept. 29. The event is hosted by Square One DSM, an initiative of the Greater Des Moines Partnership, and BrownWinick Law Firm. It will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at BrownWinick Law Firm, 666 Grand Ave. #2000. A networking reception will begin at 5 p.m.

The Raising Capital Seminar’s speakers will include local experts, including entrepreneurs and angel investors. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from entrepreneurs who have been in their position as well as investors who directly fund startup companies. Topics will include how to raise money, how to find and secure money from investors and how to maintain relationships with angel investors after obtaining funding.

“Many startup founders  have an intricate knowledge of the product they are trying to build and the problem they are trying to solve with their produce, but may not know how to secure capital to get their promising business off the ground,” said Mike Colwell, Executive Director of Entrepreneurial Initiatives at the Greater Des Moines Partnership. “This event will help them jumpstart the process by learning from the people who are best-equipped to help them.”

More details on speakers and a full agenda will be release in coming weeks. Startup founders are encouraged to sign up quickly as space is limited. Registration is $30. To register, click here.
