Partnership, U.S. Department of Commerce Renew Memorandum of Agreement

January 13, 2017

GREATER DES MOINES, IA — The Greater Des Moines Partnership and the U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration have renewed their memorandum of agreement (MOA). The agreement serves as a roadmap for the two organizations to work together in order to promote trade opportunities between Greater Des Moines (DSM) businesses and businesses across the world.

The Partnership is strategically focused on helping area businesses increase trade opportunities. Increasing trade is a key tenant of the Global DSM: Trade and Investment Strategy, which The Partnership formed along with the Global Cities Initiative, a joint project of the Brookings Institution and JPMorgan Chase. The Partnership regularly hosts educational opportunities for businesses that are interested in increasing their trade activity.

The U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration, is the lead trade promotion agency of the U.S. government. U.S. Commercial Service Iowa is located in the Des Moines Federal Building. It helps companies get started in exporting as well as helps existing exporters increase sales to new global markets.

“Des Moines is a global community,” said Jay Byers, CEO of The Partnership. “As we continue to ramp up our international efforts, it is important that we have a close relationship with key partners including the International Trade Administration.”

“We are committed to helping businesses across the state increase their opportunities to export,” said Patricia Cook, Director of U.S. Commercial Service Iowa. “We are thankful to continue to collaborate with The Partnership to educate and serve Central Iowa companies.”
