Partnership Hires Christina Moffatt as Director of Small Business Resources

GREATER DES MOINES, IA — Christina Moffatt has been named Director of Small Business Resources for the Greater Des Moines Partnership. Moffatt will work with The Partnership’s small business Members to connect them to resources available through The Partnership, with a heavy focus on helping accelerate minority, women and veteran-owned small business growth.

Moffatt has most recently served as Regional Director for the Iowa Small Business Development Center (SBDC), overseeing Dallas, Polk, Jasper, Warren and Marion Counties. The SBDC provides free, confidential, customized advice and counseling for entrepreneurs and small businesses owners. She is also the owner of the award-winning Crème Cupcake + Dessert, which she founded in 2010. Prior to opening Crème Cupcake + Dessert, Moffatt worked at RDG Planning & Design since 2005

“Christina brings both the experience of owning a small business and the experience of serving small businesses,” said Meg Schneider, Senior Vice President of Business Resources and Community Development for The Partnership. “Her expertise will help us better serve small business owners and entrepreneurs by proactively helping them find opportunities to make them more successful.”

Moffatt has also been active in the Greater Des Moines (DSM) community, serving on many local boards. She has been recognized as an industry and community leader. Moffatt was named the 2015 Women Business Owner of the Year by NAWBO Iowa, the 2013 Woman of the Year by the Metro Women’s Network and the 2012 Deb Dalziel Woman Entrepreneur Achievement Award Winner by the Iowa Small Business Development Center. Moffatt has been featured in Pastry & Baking North America and was a runner up on The Food Network’s Cupcake Wars.

“I am excited to help small businesses grow and prosper through my new role at The Partnership,” Moffatt said. “I look forward to connecting businesses to The Partnership’s many resources and helping create new resources to meet small business needs.”

Moffatt is a graduate of Des Moines Area Community College, Iowa State University and the University of Toledo’s College of Business Administration Certified Business Advisor program.

Moffatt begins her role with The Partnership on Jan. 23.
