More Than $1 Billion In New Regional Capital Investment
The Greater Des Moines Partnership assisted with three development proposals that successfully applied for financial assistance and tax benefits from Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA). The awards announced April 18 will assist in the creation of 182 jobs and will result in approximately $1.1 billion in new capital investment for the region.
On the heels of the expansion announcement for its existing facility, Microsoft plans to build a new data center in West Des Moines. The project includes associated support infrastructure. The $1.1 billion capital investment is expected to create 84 jobs.
IP Pathways, specializing in data center related technologies, plans to remodel its existing facility in Urbandale. The company was awarded $240,000 in financial assistance and tax benefits towards the $825,000 project which is set to create 53 jobs.
Delta Dental of Iowa plans to construct an addition to its current office in Urbandale to accommodate growth in the market. The project, which will double the existing space, represents a $9.3 million capital investment and is set to create 15 jobs.
The IEDA board also awarded Dickten Masch Plastics of Ankeny tax benefits towards its creation of 30 jobs. The manufacturer of custom engineered thermo-plastic and thermo-set molded components did not seek the Partnership’s help in its application towards the planned $4.4 million capital investment, but the company’s success will benefit the region’s economic vitality.
