Meyer To Receive Honorary Degree From Grand View
GREATER DES MOINES, IA – Greater Des Moines Partnership and Downtown Community Alliance President Eugene T. Meyer will receive an honorary degree at Grand View University during the commencement ceremony on Saturday, April 29. Meyer will receive a Doctor of Humane Letters. As an honorary recipient, Meyer will deliver the commencement speech at Hy-Vee Hall in the Iowa Events Center.
Meyer has worked at The Partnership since 2011. Prior to that, he worked a 37-year professional career with the State of Iowa Department of Public Safety, where he retired as Director of the Department of Criminal Investigation in 2006. He returned to the department as Commissioner in 2007, and served in that role until 2011.
Meyer has been heavily involved as a leader in the community. He served as the Mayor of the City of West Des Moines for 10 years. He is currently serving his second year as President of the Des Moines Symphony Board of Directors. Meyer also currently serves as a member of the Drake University National Advisory Committee for the College of Business and Public Administration and as a member of the Prairie Meadows board of Directors. Previously, he has served on the Board of Directors for West Bank.
