Kelsey K. Crosse and Maggie A. Hanson From Davis Brown Law Firm to Present at Top Five for Small Business Series
GREATER DES MOINES, IA — The Greater Des Moines Partnership has announced the next presenters in its “Top Five for Small Business” series. Kelsey K. Crosse and Maggie A. Hanson, Attorneys at Davis Brown Law Firm, will present on the “Top Five Things to Know When Hiring Someone.” The Top Five series features presentations to inform, educate and inspire business owners in Greater Des Moines (DSM). The events focus on a variety of timely topics that affect business owners and managers including legal, human resources, information technology, marketing, accounting and other pressing issues.
The series will take place once a month throughout the rest of 2017 at the Greater Des Moines Partnership, 700 Locust St., Ste. 100. Crosse and Hanson will present at 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 25.
Those who run their own company, or are in human resources at a small to medium-sized company, are pulled in many directions and it can be hard to keep track of the changes in employment law at the state and federal level. This presentation will cover the top five things employers need to know when hiring employees. Attendees will walk away with a better understanding of the keys to good hiring practices and areas where we see employer missteps that can lead to legal trouble
Crosse is a trial attorney Davis Brown Law Firm's Litigation Division with an emphasis in the areas of employment law and general litigation including business litigation, commercial litigation and insurance defense. Crosse zealously represents her clients in both state and federal court and counsels them on how to minimize their liability exposure prior to and during litigation. Her clients are diverse including insurance companies, businesses of all sizes including startup companies, professionals, banks and nonprofit organizations. She is currently the Associate Representative to the Firm’s Board of Directors.
Hanson is a member of the Davis Brown Law Firm's Litigation Division. Her practice focuses on employment law, including employment practices liability insurance (EPLI) defense, business litigation, commercial litigation, insurance defense, construction litigation and products liability.
