Jaki Samuelson at Whitfield & Eddy Law to Present at Top Five for Small Business Series

GREATER DES MOINES, IA (July 28, 2017) — The Greater Des Moines Partnership has announced the next presenter in its Top Five for Small Business series. Jaki Samuelson, Attorney at Whitfield & Eddy Law, will present on the Top Five Things Managers and Owners Need to Know About Employment Law on Wednesday, Aug. 23. The Top Five series features presentations to inform, educate and inspire business owners in Greater Des Moines (DSM). The events focus on a variety of timely topics that affect business owners and managers including legal, human resources, information technology, marketing, accounting and other pressing issues.

The series will take place once a month throughout the rest of 2017 at the Greater Des Moines Partnership, 700 Locust St., Ste. 100 in Des Moines.

This presentation will provide a current overview of the many legal requirements governing employers and offers practical advice regarding: Best practices to avoid legal claims, what to do if an employee complains about a legal issue or files a claim and how to proceed if a governmental regulatory agency shows up at your door.

Samuelson is an advisor for local, regional, national and international organizations providing employer client counseling, consultation, negotiation and completion of severance agreements for highly-compensated executives. She also works with both firms and executives in severing business relationships. In Chambers USA, a client commented she "gives clients the viable options that one can take and the ramifications of each of those options."

Samuelson is a regular speaker on employment topics including "Drug and Alcohol Testing Issues for Employers," "Employer Issues Regarding Workplace Violence," and "The ABC's of Employment Law," a risk avoidance program for businesses.
