Iowa Caucus Consortium Announces Federal Issues Series

September 22, 2015

The Iowa Caucus Consortium will host a Federal Issues Series beginning in October to allow Greater Des Moines community members and business leaders to learn about key issues facing presidential candidates on the campaign trail. The Consortium will hold a series of at least four events in coming months. This series is a continuation of the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s Federal Issues Series that began with events in February and March.

The Consortium is pleased to announce the first event in the series, titled “Debt Matters: A Top Economic Policy Priority for the Next President.” Governor Ed Rendell and Paul Stebbins, two of the most active, respected and bipartisan proponents of political leadership and fiscal responsibility, will provide a candid analysis of the nation’s fiscal challenges and national debt, including the economic consequences of failing to act and the budget impact it will have on other domestic priorities of 2016 candidates. The event will take place on Oct. 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the State Historical Building, 600 E. Locust St. Registration is not required, but is encouraged. To register, click here. The event, presented by Microsoft and supported by First Budget, is free and open to the public.

In addition, the Federal Issues Series will include events based on the following topics:

  • National Security — Oct. 21
  • Agriculture and Biosciences — Nov. 23
  • Immigration — TBA

More information will be announced on these events in coming weeks. Microsoft is the presenting sponsor for the series.
