December 19, 2013

At its final Board meeting of 2013, the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s Board of Directors unanimously approved the slate of 2014 Board members, including incoming Chair Paul E. Schickler, President, DuPont Pioneer. Schickler has been Vice Chair on the Partnership’s Executive Committee of the Board for the past two years, and an active volunteer since the organization’s founding in 1999.

The Partnership is the economic and community development organization serving Greater Des Moines (DSM). Together with 20 Affiliate Chambers of Commerce and 4,700 business members which employ a workforce of more than 150,000, the Partnership works to grow opportunity, create jobs, and promote the best place to build a business, a career and a future.

“Direct leadership level involvement with the Partnership continues to be our core strength,” said Jay Byers, Partnership CEO. “We couldn’t be more excited to have Paul lead us in 2014 as we begin a new Ag-Bioscience economic development strategy and continue to sharpen our regional focus on global connectivity.”

Schickler was named DuPont Pioneer President in 2007, after holding a number of finance and administrative leadership roles throughout the business. Schickler joined Pioneer in 1974. He is a graduate of Drake University, where he received Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees in business administration. In addition to the Greater Des Moines Partnership Board of Directors, he currently serves on the Chicago Council on Global Affairs Board of Directors, the Chicago Council’s Global Agricultural Development Initiative Advisory Group, the Grand View University Board of Directors, the STEM Food and Ag Council, and the Iowa Business Council. He is also active in the United Way of Greater Des Moines, the World Food Prize Foundation, Meals from the Heartland, and the Farm Journal Legacy Project.

Schickler will receive the gavel from outgoing 2013 Chair Jim Wallace, Chairman, President and CEO of GuideOne Insurance at the Partnership’s 125th Annual Dinner on January 20 at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center at Veteran's Memorial Auditorium.
