Des Moines Native John Shors to Appear at 2014 Wonder of Words Festival

The Downtown Community Alliance (DCA) is pleased to announce John Shors as a featured guest of the 3rd Annual Wonder of Words Festival. He will speak at a free program on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014 at 7 p.m. at the Central Library in Downtown Des Moines (DSM), sponsored by Principal Financial Group.

Des Moines native and best-selling author John Shors will discuss his novels, including Beneath a Marble Sky, a historical fiction book about the building of the Taj Mahal, and Temple of a Thousand Faces, which brings to life the legendary temple of Angkor Wat. Shors will share how travel has influenced his view of the world and his writing in addition to stories of his roots in Des Moines. Seating is first-come, first-served and books will be available for sale and signing.

A former Des Moines newspaper reporter and recipient of several statewide awards in journalism, John Shors has spent much of his life traveling abroad. A graduate of Colorado College, he helped launch GroundFloor Media, now one of Colorado’s largest public relations firms.
