Career Center Brings Job Seekers And Talent Seekers A One Stop Shop: Careers.Seizedesmoines.com

September 11, 2014

The Greater Des Moines Partnership is re-launching its online Career Center today with greater access to information and enhanced tools to allow employers and job seekers to find each other faster, and help them to match the right people to the right positions. Today’s Career Center launch coincides with the kick off to the fall job fair schedule to better assist recent graduates looking to launch their career, job seekers researching the next rung on their career ladder, and recruiters looking to connect to Iowa’s talented workers. The Career Center is another step toward assisting current and prospective residents to “Seize Des Moines” as part of the Partnership’s CarpeDM initiative.

“Central Iowa boasts some of the most productive and educated workers in the country,” said Rachel Sinclair, President of Core Principles Consulting and Chair of the Attraction/Retention Council of the Greater Des Moines Partnership. “That’s one of the reasons Greater Des Moines is repeatedly listed at the top of so many national rankings for finding a job or advancing a career.* It is also why the region is considered one of the best locations for businesses expansion.”

Employers can fill a job or internship and job seekers can find a job or internship in Greater Des Moines (DSM) through the Partnership’s Career Center, located on the Partnership’s website, or directly accessed via careersdsmusa.com.

Businesses may post as many job openings they wish, subscribe to resume post notifications matching their job descriptions, and review a database of resumes all for free. The site will also serve as a key connector between students seeking internships and employers seeking interns. The site also allows recruiters to use a form on the site to collect applications or link to their own online application process.

The Center provides a free resource for job seekers to browse open positions using a simple or advanced search, save jobs, save searches, and apply for jobs right from the Career Center. They may also create and update their profile/resume, and receive weekly emails with jobs related to keywords. The enhanced Career Center also pulls jobs postings from a 60-mile radius of DSM from Indeed.com.

The Career Center has a mobile application that includes many of the same features as the full site, including job searches. The Center is an initiative of the Partnership’s Regional Workforce Development and Education program and the Attraction/Retention Council.
