Brenton Skating Plaza Opens For Winter Season On Nov. 20

Brenton Skating Plaza, Des Moines’ only outdoor ice skating rink, opens for its 10th season on Nov. 20. The rink is located in the heart of Downtown Des Moines (DSM) on the Principal Riverwalk at 520 Robert D. Ray Drive.

Opening day at Brenton Skating Plaza will be held in conjunction with the Historic East Village Holiday Promenade, the kickoff to the Holiday Season in Downtown DSM. Hours on opening day will run from Noon to 11 p.m. The opening night schedule includes a tree lighting ceremony at 6:10 p.m. with Santa Claus. Come visit Santa and see an ice carving demonstration. Ice skaters are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the Impact Community Action Partnership with the City of Des Moines throughout opening weekend.

Brenton Skating Plaza is offering discounted season passes through Nov. 19. Season passes must be purchased online at BrentonPlaza.com/public-skate. Passes can be purchased for 40 percent off from Nov. 6-12 by using the promo code SEASON40. Passes can be purchased for 30 percent off from Nov. 13-19 by using the promo code SEASON30. Season passes start at $54 with the 40 percent discount.

Monday through Thursday, Noon-9 p.m.
Friday and Saturday, Noon-11 p.m.
Sunday, Noon – 6 p.m.

Gifted by the Brenton Foundation, the facility is the first of its kind in the state of Iowa and is the only outdoor rink in Greater Des Moines (DSM).
